In school infrastructure construction, although lockers are common auxiliary facilities, their selection rationality directly impacts daily usage experience, management efficiency, and long-term maintenance costs. Drawing from our years of project experience, this article provides a systematic selection reference for schools and related procurement personnel from three aspects: lock solutions and color design.
I. Choosing the Right Lock
Locks are the most frequently used components of lockers and are also among the parts most prone to failure over time. Since behavioral habits and safety management requirements vary across different educational levels, lock configurations should be tailored accordingly.
These have a simple design and are relatively inexpensive, making them suitable for elementary schools. However, it is important to note that mechanical locks are prone to key loss and can be burdensome to manage.
No need to carry keys, and they’re easy to use; however, in a school setting, if a student forgets their password, they can ask an administrator for a master key to open the door.
Proximity locks are also quite convenient, but they typically come with a wristband. However, students tend to lose these wristbands, requiring administrators to issue replacements.
2. Color Coordination
The color design of storage lockers not only affects the overall image of the campus but also impacts daily cleaning and long-term aesthetics. In practice, the following principles are worth noting:
For kindergartens, bright colors such as orange or yellow can be used to create a lively atmosphere indoors.
For middle and high schools, neutral tones are recommended: Neutral shades such as light gray, beige, and light blue blend well with the environment, are stain-resistant, and do not show signs of aging easily.
Avoid pure white door panels: While pure white looks good when new, it tends to show signs of wear quickly in everyday use due to fingerprints, dust, and cleaning product residue. We recommend choosing light gray or off-white instead.
When selecting school lockers, the decision should not be based solely on the initial purchase price, but rather on a comprehensive evaluation of multiple factors, including frequency of use, management costs, safety standards, and long-term durability.
Materials: HPL offers significant advantages in terms of scratch resistance, fire resistance, moisture resistance, and total cost of ownership, and its low maintenance costs make it a top choice.
