High strength and abrasion resistance:
High-traffic public spaces, HPL surfaces are scratch and impact resistant, and can withstand frequent use and the placement of heavy objects (e.g. gym bags).
Hygienic and easy to maintain:
The non-porous surface prevents bacterial growth and can be cleaned directly with disinfectants, which meets public health requirements.
Fire resistance:
Most HPLs meet B1 fire retardant standards, reducing the risk of fire in locker rooms.
Customized length (e.g. 1.2m-1.8m) to fit the changing room space, can be designed as a bench against the wall or a freestanding island bench.
Height is recommended to be 45cm (standard sitting comfort height), thickness is 25-30mm to ensure load bearing (with stainless steel bracket).
Finish:
Choose a matte or textured HPL finish that is non-slip and avoids reflections from water damage.
Colors can be matched to the style of the locker room (e.g. neutrals or branded colors) or divided into functional areas by color blocking.
Stainless steel bench frame optimized:
304 stainless steel is rust-resistant, with a brushed or color-plated surface to enhance aesthetics.
The bracket design should strengthen the stability (e.g. wider foot support, anti-tipping structure) to avoid the user collision displacement.
Chamfered edges are designed to prevent bumping.
In winter, it can be used with removable soft cushion (need to fix the straps), but HPL itself is not cold to the touch, which is better than metal.
Functional extension:
Integrated hooks or brackets (e.g. understool storage basket) allow users to hang clothes or place shoes.
Some areas of the bench can be widened (60cm or more) to double as a temporary shelf.
Safety and privacy:
Avoid reflective materials to minimize privacy concerns caused by mirrors.
Rubber mute pads are installed on the legs of the stool to minimize movement noise.
Solid wood: requires regular maintenance, prone to moisture and cracking, HPL saves on maintenance costs.
Plastic: cheap but easy to deteriorate, HPL texture is more high-end.
Metal bench tops: cold in winter, HPL is friendlier to the touch.
Application places:
gyms, swimming pools, schools, high-end clubs and other places that emphasize durability and hygiene.
HPL benches provide a perfect balance of functionality, hygiene and aesthetics in public locker rooms, and together with the stainless steel brackets they create a cost-effective, low-maintenance solution. It is recommended that factories provide “locker room specific kits” (e.g. non-slip + integrated hooks) and highlight HPL’s durability test data (e.g. abrasion resistance rating, antimicrobial certificates) to reinforce a professional image.
